Special Needs Family Support Limited aims to work and support families across London. We work intensively with families through our many services including one to one meetings, home visits, support groups, drop-ins as well as complimenting the local social services.

Our mission statement is:
"To support families emotionally and practically whilst complementing the work of the local authorities and offering support focussed at special needs families. We aim to reduce the isolation that can be experienced thus improving day to day lives and promoting a better family environment."
We are currently reaching out to families who need support in various areas/situations but do not know where or whom to turn to. We will do our best to help and point them in the right direction if we are not able to.


The Structure of SNFS
Special Needs Family Support (SNFS) is a non profit making organisation which works with any family referred to it irrespective of background. All its work is based on a policy of offering objective and impartial support to all which is totally based on equal opportunities policies.
We are driven by the experience of looking after people with special needs which is not fully appreciated by those who have not been in similar circumstances thus the dedication to the on-going success of SNFS. We seek to employ staff with both the necessary skills and experience and the right values and attitudes to provide a very special service to families in need.

Future of SNFS
We want to develop relations with local statutory agencies to ensure opportunities for partnership are available and to demonstrate the key role of work with families and children that we, as a voluntary and community organisation with deep roots in the area, can play.
In the next three - five years, we want to ensure a succession of excellent leadership both voluntary and employed as well as a systematic review of opportunities not just to expand existing work but to examine the possibility of diversifying and developing into new areas of Special Needs Family Support.

Support Workers
Special Needs Family Support welcomes their clients by means of referrals from a wide variety of sources related to government. Schools - teachers, educational welfare officers, educational psychologists - general practitioners as well as other NHS professionals including Health Visitors and School Nurses, Social Service Department staff, Job Centre advice workers - as well as direct contacts- self referrals.

Unlike statutory bodies who often limit client support to a maximum period of time, SNFS workers have no set limits and are available by phone during office hours or answer-phone in addition to one-to-one or group meetings. The work of SNFS complements that of statutory agencies, rather than in any way duplicating it. It can be described as Support as well as Partnership. Our focus is on the whole family. Our main aim is to support and help families avoid unnecessary stress and know that they are not alone - help is at hand… which is often the case when they face difficult situations.
